PSP's are fairly sturdy products but after a certain amount of use some things start to
wear out. The analog stick assembly is usually number one but it's very closely followed
by UMD door problems. Unfortunately you can't just pop a new door in a PSP though as
there are retaining screws inside preventing this from happening.
The good news though is that replacing the UMD door and associated items in a PSP-1001
can be a very simple repair when you have the exact right parts, tools and instructions to
complete the job. I have repair kits for all sorts of things that can go wrong with a PSP
and many happy customers have handled their own repairs without any trouble at all. This
saves money as well as the time and expense of mailing your PSP off to someone else
making it a win win situation all round.
The new parts supplied with our kits are a 100% guaranteed perfect fit as they all come
out of standard factory PSP's purchased specifically for parting out in the various kits.
Step-by-step detailed instructions, (with pictures and in English:-), make the whole job
pretty much foolproof for anyone that can read. You need no electronics or general repair
experience at all, if you can read a recipe and operate a screwdriver you can handle
putting a new door on your PSP . I have hundreds of customers that have done just that,
many of which started off literally not knowing the front of a PSP from the back so I have
great confidence that any average Joe can do it too.
PSP Slim 2001 and 3001 models have a more complicated UMD door set up that takes
extra tools, a very specific approach and experience to guarantee a successful repair
without doing any damage so I don't have kits for those.
As with all the kits these come with the mid-repair bail-out option. This means if you run
into a problem or just plain change your mind you can return the kit along with your PSP,
in pieces if need be, and I'll complete the repair. The price you've paid for the kit will
come off of my standard repair fee so at worst it'll be as if you sent it in to me to fix in the
first place. The only difference is that you'll save at least $30 up front and around a
week's worth of waiting for it in the mail to boot.
